ETON COLLECTION - Artson Fashion
The ETON story
Eton has been supplying superior shirts from Sweden for more than 85 years. The man who wants to look smart undoubtedly has these shirts in his wardrobe.
Eton, the beginning: It sounds simple: be meticulous and strive for perfection and, just like that, you have launched a successful brand! Perhaps, but you must persevere and give the project enough time. That is also the story of Annie and David Pettersson, who began sewing shirts in their kitchen (for once, not a startup garage). It was 1928, and they sold their first shirts in their village of Ganghester, near Gothenburg. The shirts were popular, and because the region was known for textile production, they could expand quickly. However, it was not until the fifties that they achieved a noteworthy level of production.
Eton, the expansion: Growth was based on the construction of what could be called a state-of-the-art factory in the forties. It is still the headquarters today. Another important step was Petersson's trip to … Eton in England. He liked it so much that a collection was given the name Eton in 1955. Success followed, and ‘Skjortfabriken Special’ was renamed Eton. Eton quality: Every producer claims to pursue quality and excellence. Consumer scepticism is certainly justified in this regard. So what makes Eton so special for Artson Fashion? Eton is very proud of its fabrics. Everything begins with choosing the yarn, how it is spun, dyed and finally woven. Printing and finishing may follow. At Eton, shirts are made from natural fibres. But Eton does not use just any cotton fibre. Quality is determined by fibre length. The longer the fibre, the stronger the thread and the more durable the fabric. At the top are Egyptian cotton with fibres measuring 45mm and some exceptional cotton from the Caribbean, available only in very small quantities, with fibres of more than 50mm. For the annual production of around 800,000 shirts, the best 3-5% of any year's harvest is used. The consistent use of long fibres ensures the quality of these shirts.
Eton innovation: Cotton is an important material in the Eton collection. The brand combines its shirtmaking expertise with attention to materials, fit and finishing.
